Looking at the Weekend Box Office Numbers for 2008

I recently noticed that Beverly Hills Chihuahua was the top grossing movie for two weekends in a row and I wanted to compare this to previous weekends to make sure that this wasn’t going to be the biggest movie of the year.  My normal source of this information is from bbc news but I couldn’t find back weeks very easily so I ended up looking at data from The Numbers.  I used the Beautiful Soup parser for python and grabbed the top 10 weekend movies for the entire year and began taking a look, and it looks like I don’t have to worry to much about Beverly Hills Chihuahua, as The Dark Knight looks like it has done the best this year.
